Distances and borders melted away when hundreds of ORT students in the flour of their youth, together with parents and teachers, were joined by videoconferencing technology for a fun afternoon of challah baking.
ORT schools in Argentina, Spain, Mexico, Italy, Israel, Russia, Moldova, and Bulgaria took part in the second annual challa agula event organised by ORT Argentina. They kneaded the dough for the round challa loaves which are traditionally eaten on Rosh Hashana and took in turns to share the customs of their communities, such as Mexico’s traditional dish of apples covered in a spicy sauce called chamoy.
