We educate people, we train people, we build economic self-sufficiency for communities.

World ORT is a worldwide charity whose aim is to work for the advancement of Jewish and non-Jewish people through training and education; To provide communities wherever they are, with the skills and knowledge necessary to cope with the complexities and uncertainties of their environment; To foster economic self-sufficiency, mobility and a sense of identity through use of state-of-the-art technology; To support non-sectarian economic and social development through International Cooperation programs in under-developed parts of the world, with vocational training and the provision of technical assistance.
The pen is mightier than the sword – but only if you know to write. It’s education that gives people the power to make challenges into opportunities. An ORT Montreal education empowers people from the poorest backgrounds to become independent, contributing citizens.

What did you want to be when you grew up, a firefighter, a pilot, an astronaut, a doctor?
Whatever choices we had before us as children, our children have more – and countless
other paths which will only materialise when they’re adults. We want to ensure that our
students will have the tools to make their dreams come true
Founded in Russia in 1880, World ORT now has activities in five continents – because we
believe that every community, Jewish and non-Jewish, deserves to have access to a good
We know that a good, practical education is the first step to a good, productive future. So
we provide our students with the facilities, study tracks and teachers that will inspire and
motivate them to succeed in whatever they choose to do
At ORT Montreal, we never take anything for granted. We’re proud of what we’ve achieved
but we’re not satisfied with it. We always want to do more, to help more people
World ORT has always provided people with the skills they need to succeed. As technology
evolves, so does our education: where once we trained basket weavers we know teach
biotechnology. Similarly, carpentry has given way to computer programming and farming to
pharmaceuticals. Our students are equipped to master the technologies upon which the
world is increasingly dependent
It’s not only what we teach that’s changed, it’s how we teach. We train our teachers in
modern, proven pedagogical techniques while resisting the fads. We’re interested in what
works so that our students will have the edge in increasingly competitive workplaces
The better the education, the greater the opportunities. We all know that. That’s why the
fortunate among us pay huge sums on their children’s schooling. Our schools’ quality
facilities and staff serve underprivileged communities and individuals in challenging
circumstances, equipping new generations to exploit opportunities they may never have
Our students and teachers benefit from being part of an educational network that reaches
59 countries. In an era of globalisation, our schools and colleges see beyond borders,
collaborating with and learning from each other. Together we are a family with supportive
relatives around the world
